Donald Trump announced on Friday that Vladimir Putin has committed to supply millions of tons of diesel "for the American and global market", over several months. The US President hopes to stem the rise in fuel prices in the run-up to the mid-term elections, but creates a breach in Western sanctions imposed on Russia since the beginning of Ukraine's large-scale invasion.
