The candidacy of the United Arab Emirates Diplomacy for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations raised criticism from Sudanese jurists and activists, against the background of its role in defending the foreign policy of Abu Dhabi and denying the role of the Emirates in fuelling the war in the Sudan. On the other hand, Tuesday ' s representative pledged to make the Sudan a top priority if it assumed office, to support accountability and ceasefire efforts.
