The people of Lake Chad suffer from the effects of climate change. The region has been shaped and life has evolved historically around these vast water areas. Fishing first, then agriculture, the two main pillars of the communities of the region, are two activities today that are seriously paralysed by climate variability. The result is a scarcity of fish, the destruction of agricultural land and a high cost of living. One of the most fertile and productive areas of Central Africa is also suffering, as they have been under the pressure of the Buko Haram armed group for years.
