The Governor of the State of Niger, Nigeria, announced on Thursday the opening of an investigation after the death of 37 illegal minors in detention. Deaths are attributed to overcrowding and inadequate ventilation in a Civil Defence detention centre. The tragedy triggered demonstrations and postponed the start of the election campaign.
