Ethiopia: Mekele airport captured by Tigray rebel forces, suspended flights

The forces of the Tigray rebel authorities took control of the airports of this regional state on Wednesday, 23 September, and face the Ethiopian Federal Army in the neighbouring regional state of Afar in particular, resurrected the spectre of a new large-scale war in northern Ethiopia.
