Peace calls for an international presence in southern Lebanon after the end of the UNIFIL mission

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called for the continuation of an international presence under the umbrella of the United Nations in southern Lebanon after the termination of UNIFIL ' s mandate at the end of 2026, stressing during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres in New York, that no vacuum should be avoided, that monitoring functions should continue and that the authority of the Lebanese State should be supported.
