The Iraqi judiciary is sentenced to seven French prisoners accused of belonging to the organization of the Islamic State.

The Kurkh Crimes Court of Baghdad, Tuesday, sentenced seven French citizens convicted of membership in the Islamic State organization to life imprisonment in the first sentence against a group of 47 Frenchmen who had been transferred from Syria to Iraq last year and began their trials last month. This provision comes at a time when the Iraqi judiciary faces legal criticism of the speed and procedures of trials, as well as controversy over the fate of detainees and their families between Baghdad and Paris.
