Vigilantes, marches and recollections: hundreds of demonstrators mobilized across South Africa on Friday evening, September 18, to pay tribute to the nine women found dead in east Johannesburg. In a country with more than 60 homicides a day, the nine murders caused shock waves across the population. Anger is rising and calls are increasing for the government to act against violence against women.
