Americas feel effects of record El Nino
The El Nino–Southern Oscillation this year equaled its record intensity, according to specialists, and could yet reach record levels. The weather phenomenon's influence has already been felt across the world, with drought, wildfires, food shortages and sharp rises in water temperatures. The state of California has declared a state of emergency due to El Nino and the effects have been felt all over the Americas.
