India stifles "cockroaches" protests with thousands of arrests, including their leaders
With extensive deployment, blockades at different points in New Delhi and multiple arrests, the Indian police managed to suppress the mobilization called by the youth movement of the "cockroaches" (CJP), in rejection of a controversial review of the electoral census. Three CJP leaders were arrested, while legislators, lawyers and journalists were also detained. Internet cuts and closing of metro and market stations were also recorded.
