UN climate change body accused of conflict of interest, Saudi influence
An investigation conducted by the Guardian is raising questions about potential conflicts of interest among experts helping produce the next major assessment from the UN’s Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change. Out of the 223 lead authors in the part of the body which assesses how emissions can be reduced or removed, 20 have a strong conflict of interest, according to the investigation, with more than half linked to Saudi institutions, including two employees of oil giant Saudi Aramco.
