Quebec Separatists Promise Independence Referendum After Their Electoral Victory
The separatist Québec Party won the provincial elections on Monday, but it was only a few seats away from reaching the necessary majority to rule alone in Quebec, the French-speaking province of Canada. The victory comes just two weeks before a vote in Alberta, one of the country's economic engines, about whether it wants to start the process of separating from Canada.
