Ethiopians celebrate Meskel: Faithful call for peace amid renewed fighting
Orthodox Ethiopians celebrated Meskel over the weekend, one of the holiest days on their calendar. But this year, the festivities were overshadowed by an armed rebellion aimed at overthrowing the Ethiopian government. While the main celebration took place in the capital Addis Ababa, heavy fighting ravished several regions across the country, including an attack reported only 45 km away from the capital.
