Police stop the leader of the "cockroaches" movement before a protest in New Delhi

The police in New Delhi arrested Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the "Party of the Chocarachas," and two other leaders on their flight. Despite the ban on youth protest on October 10, the closure of metro stations, the cancellation of trains and the mobile internet cut, the protesters went on to demand the resignation of the head of the Electoral Commission, Gyanesh Kumar, for the removal of more than 130 million names from the voter lists.

India stifles "cockroaches" protests with thousands of arrests, including their leaders

With extensive deployment, blockades at different points in New Delhi and multiple arrests, the Indian police managed to suppress the mobilization called by the youth movement of the "cockroaches" (CJP), in rejection of a controversial review of the electoral census. Three CJP leaders were arrested, while legislators, lawyers and journalists were also detained. Internet cuts and closing of metro and market stations were also recorded.
