Milei renews to the UN the claim for the Malvinas, but expects nothing from a "useless organization"

The Argentine President fused the United Nations on Wednesday, September 23 for not being able to enforce the resolution that recognized a dispute over the archipelago and called on the United Kingdom to "resume negotiations to find a peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute." However, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham promised that his country would remain "firm" around that claim. Milei also sold Argentina as an ideal destination for IA companies.

Malvinas extends oil licences, despite Milei's measures: what is Sea Lion, the project that increases tension?

The decision of the Government of the Malvinas Islands, under British administration, to extend for five years the oil exploration permits put energy resources back at the centre of the sovereignty dispute with Argentina, just as the Government of Javier Milei has moved from diplomatic protest to a legal offensive against the companies involved and is preparing a law to extend the sanctions. The development of Sea Lion, which plans to start producing crude oil in 2028, thus turns a long-term territorial dispute into a conflict with business consequences.
