The image of Maricarren Abascal, a 87-year-old retired woman and 50% disability, being evicted by the police this week from her home in Madrid, where she lived for more than seven decades, has touched a sensitive fiber in Spanish society which, with all its differences, finds consensus to denounce the crisis because of lack of access to housing.
