Combating sexual violence in Mauritania: towards adoption of the Karama law
In Mauritania, as violence against women and girls escalates, civil society is putting pressure on the authorities. The adoption of the so-called Karama Act is intended to strengthen the protection of victims from sexual violence. The text, validated by the government, has remained blocked in Parliament for several years. In a memorandum presented on Thursday, 24 September, these organizations call for a clear timetable for its adoption.
