Europe is aging: can immigration prevent its demographic decline?
Europe is facing a demographic transformation that threatens to alter its social and economic model. According to Eurostat projections, the EU population will reach its peak by 2029 and could be reduced by 11.7% between 2025 and 2100. With fewer births, more retirees and a growing labour force, pressure on pensions, health and the labour market will increase. Can immigration help cover the lack of workers? Or does Europe need to combine it with more birth, productivity and social reforms? We analyzed it.
