Ethiopian Jews have been waiting for a visa for Israel for years

One of the oldest Jewish communities in the world resides in Ethiopia. According to religious accounts, their origins go back to the year 950 BC and their members would be descendants of the queen of Saba and King Solomon. Known as Beta Israel, the community was persecuted by the communist regime that ruled the country between 1974 and 1991. Israel evacuated 20,000 Ethiopian Jews during the operations of Moses and Solomon. But thousands were left behind and, decades later, they still expect to be able to reach the Promised Land.
