Rwanda: China becomes first export outlet
In the first quarter of 2026, China became the first destination for Rwandan exports, accounting for 26 per cent of the total, compared with less than 5 per cent a year earlier. A dramatic increase, driven by the abolition of Chinese customs duties on almost all Rwandan products. But access to this market also depends on compliance with stringent health standards.
