Thousands of people throughout Spain joined the call to keep a minute of silence for the death of Maricarsen Abascal, a 87-year-old retired woman who was evicted in Madrid and became a symbol of the recent mass protests over the housing crisis in the country. The Spanish Congress is debating the two royal decrees - the law, which was promoted by the Government and approved by the Council of Ministers on 29 September, which would respond temporarily to the housing crisis that is going on in the country and which has thousands of people on the streets.
