In Caen, demonstrators protested on Sunday, 20 September, against the bill to establish a presumption of self-defence for police and gendarmes. Adopted at first reading by the National Assembly on 7 July, the text provides that officers are presumed to have acted legally when using their weapon, unless proven otherwise. Opponents of the draft report a risk of weakening control over the use of weapons by law enforcement.
