Tennessee prison chief renounces after Christa Pike's failed execution
The head of the Tennessee prison system resigned after the failed execution of Christa Pike, after a double attempt to give him a lethal pentobarbital injection. Pike remains hospitalized, unconscious, connected to a respirator and injured in both arms. Lawyers and witnesses described tearing scenes during the procedure, while the defence requests that the death penalty be commuted.
