Maricarren case: Spain recorded an eviction every 20 minutes in 2025
The 87-year-old Maricarren Abascal eviction brought back a debate that has been suffocating the Spaniards for years: the housing crisis. In 2025, 25,540 expulsions were recorded, mostly for non-payment of rent. I mean, there was an eviction every 20 minutes, 70 every day. Real estate speculation, vulture funds and housing shortages aggravate the problem of 18 other European Union countries and replicate in other latitudes, such as in Mexico.
