Guterres says goodbye to the UN and opens the race for the new general secretariat
On 22 September, António Guterres presented his last speech as Secretary-General of the United Nations. Guterres succeeded in the post of South Korean Ban Ki-moon in 2016, following a historic process that, for the first time, included public hearings and discussions among the candidates. Now, the career for the secretariat is disputed between Rebeca Grynspan, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Olara Otunnu, among others.
