Trump and Che Jinping... A ceremonial environment that conceals complex controversial files.

In a glimmer that reflects a remarkable convergence between Washington and Beijing, Donald Trump and Che Jin Ping during the visit were keen to highlight the warmth of their personal relations, despite continuing differences between the two countries. This coincided with the emphasis on both sides on the importance of maintaining peaceful coexistence and avoiding escalation of tensions, under barbed files involving Taiwan, Iran, artificial intelligence and trade. However, the visit was not without criticism, as a number of democracies felt that the ceremony and the observance of relations prevailed over the handling of fundamental issues in the relationship between the United States and China.
