Why are wages still unequal between women and men?

Although the principle of " equal pay for equal work " is enshrined in the laws of many States, the economic gap between women and men still exists. But behind the word " pay gap " , there are very different facts. In France, for example, women in the private sector earn on average about 22% less than men in terms of annual income. When we calculate remuneration on the basis of equal working time, the gap is reduced to 14% according to the figures of the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies and in the Arab States, the problem sometimes begins before the salary is originally reached.
