Santiago Peña, the resignation president of Paraguay, asked for an extension to Congress to respond to the allegations related to the serious financial crisis and the collapse of Ueno Bank, a banking entity related to its environment and of which it was a shareholder. Peña argued that it was notified only the day before and that the deadline does not guarantee due process. Congress assesses the order in the midst of a climate of tension. Adolfo Ferreiro and Ricardo Preda, lawyers of Paraguayan President Santiago Peña, presented themselves to the House of Senators and began to exercise their technical defence in the political trial led by the Chamber of Deputies. With both representatives in the room, the Senate is preparing to continue the session and to give way to the allegations in the face of the charges against the president.
