The Hawathes asserted that they were holding the gains they had made in the field, having taken control of the west coast of Yemen and the strategic area of the Bab al-Mandab, while government forces stated that they had made progress on several fronts, particularly in the town of Thib and the southern Hafan Ta`izz, as part of a military operation against the Al-Houthi community.
