The death of a 16-year-old adolescent from measles-related complications re-ignited health alarms in Peru, where 2,357 cases were already confirmed and over 6,000 remain under suspicion. The death, recorded in the Amazon region of Loreto, is the first attributed to the disease in decades and led the authorities to intensify vaccination, especially among children and young people who did not complete the vaccine scheme.
