بعض الفيضان من المحتمل ان يكون نابع من نظام الضغط المنخفض وتوقف ذلك على المنطقة لعدة أيام في أواخر أيلول/سبتمبر. تم تخزينه بواسطة الرطوبة والطاقة من الخليج الدافئة لتايلند القريبة، النظام المسلّم بشكل خاص الأمطار المكثفة إلى المنطقة. حوالي 100 كيلومتر (60 ميلا) إلى الغرب، تلقت بانكوك ما يقرب من 300 مليمتر (11.8 بوصة) من الأمطار على مدى فترة 48 ساعة، وفقا لتقارير إخبارية، تقارب متوسط إجمالي سقوط الأمطار الشهري في أيلول/سبتمبر 344 ملم (13.5 بوصة).
